The Role
The Security Control Room Operator is responsible for the effective monitoring of CCTV, alarms, and access control systems within the control room, ensuring the safety and security of the site. The role involves incident logging, responding promptly to alarms and calls, and supporting the on-site security teams by coordinating information and escalating issues to the Control Room Supervisor when required.

- At least 18 years old - licence requirement by the Security Industry Authority.
- Punctual, dependable, flexible, and assured.
- Ideally SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence holders.
- SIA CCTV licence holders.
- Able to work 12-hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends.
Your core responsibilities will include
Real-Time Monitoring & Surveillance
- Operate and monitor all security systems including:
- CCTV
- Access control
- Intrusion detection and perimeter alarms
- Fire alarm panels and building management alerts
- Maintain constant situational awareness of all estate zones: public areas, event venues, hotels, school, F&B outlets, post room, and loading bay.
Incident Detection & Response
- Identify and assess security incidents, suspicious activity, or system anomalies in real time.
- Initiate immediate response protocols, including dispatching ground teams, notifying emergency services, and escalating to the Control Room Supervisor.
- Accurately log all incidents and actions taken using the estate’s incident management platform.
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain clear, professional radio and phone communication with on-site security officers, estate management, and emergency responders.
- Support coordination of emergency evacuations, lockdowns, or shelter-in-place procedures as directed.
- Relay critical information to relevant departments (e.g., hotel security, school safeguarding, event control) in a timely and secure manner.
Technology Operation & First-Line Troubleshooting
- Operate advanced systems including
- Perform basic troubleshooting of control room equipment and escalate technical faults to the Supervisor or IT support.
Compliance & Data Integrity
- Ensure all monitoring and data handling complies with:
- SIA licensing conditions
- GDPR and ISO 27001 standards
- Estate-specific safeguarding and privacy protocols
- Maintain accurate, timestamped logs of all control room activities and system events.
Shift Handover & Reporting
- Conduct thorough shift handovers, briefing incoming operators on ongoing incidents, system issues, and operational priorities.
- Complete daily activity reports and submit incident summaries to the Control Room Supervisor.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in regular training on emergency procedures, system updates, and estate-specific protocols.
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and suggest improvements to control room operations and response strategies.
Skills & Experience
- CCTV licence holder.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy Control Room environment.
- SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence holder – desirable.
- 5 years checkable work and address history.
- Experienced in customer-facing roles and busy working environments.
- CCTV experience covering a range of settings is desirable i.e. corporate, commercial, retail, events, gatehouse, loading bay.
- A team player, flexible and supportive, putting team goals first.
- Effective people skills, able to interact with colleagues, customers and members of the public in a positive and professional manner.
