Purpose of the Role
The electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This role involves working in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial environments, and requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety protocols.
To ensure Carlisle Support Services provides a high level of service on the designated customer site ensuring premises are safe and secure through visitor management.
Shift rotation of 4 days on, 4 days off (8.00am-6.00pm). 40 hours per average week.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain and repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting fixtures.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams and specifications to determine the layout of electrical systems.
Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Conduct inspections to identify and correct potential hazards ensuring compliance with national electrical codes and safety standards.
Test electrical systems and components using appropriate tools and equipment to diagnose issues and ensure proper operation.
Identify, diagnose and repair electrical problems including faulty wiring, malfunctioning equipment, and circuit issues.
Replace or repair electrical wiring, components or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
Communicate effectively with clients to explain the nature of electrical issues and the work required to resolve them.
Provide estimates for electrical work including labour and material costs.
Is this you?
PTS qualification.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Capable of standing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or vocational training is preferred.
Valid electrician’s license required as per local regulations.
Certification from recognized bodies (i.e. NCCER, IEC) is a plus.
Proven experience as an electrician.
Experience with electrical installations, repairs and maintenance in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components and their functionality.
Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic tools (e.g. multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters).
Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work indoors or outdoors throughout the London over ground network
Knowledge of working in hazardous conditions requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
Reliable, punctual, flexible, and smart in appearance.
