The Role

Carlisle Support Services are the chosen supplier of event stewards and security for Cheltenham Racecourse.  We are currently recruiting Event Security Officers for the forthcoming racing season and ad-hoc events at the racecourse.  

We are looking for people with good communication skills to help us provide a professional, efficient and safe service to our client at the racecourse.  Working at the racecourse is a fun and lively experience with varied and interesting roles and we are looking to build our team to support race day operations.

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:

The role of an Event Security Officers involves:

  • Being polite and professional to members of the public and the client
  • Screening and searching all persons entering the venue (including bag and body searches)
  • Retaining and using information relating to safety and for evacuation purposes
  • Responding to incidents and emergencies as necessary and ejecting persons from the venue if directed and necessitated by Event Control
  • Providing world class customer service to ensure our visitors have a positive and memorable experience
  • Retaining and using information relating to key areas on site (medical room, toilets, bars etc)
  • Delivering the brief given by the supervisor (access control, searching, response)

Previous experience within this environment is not essential as we can train anyone to our standards providing you meet the below criteria:

  • Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Close Protection Licence
  • Approachable person with a focus on providing excellent customer service
  • Willingness to learn new skills and procedures 
  • Able to take direction and follow instructions 
  • Able to communicate effectively, both spoken and written English 
  • Smart, presentable and punctual to time and attendance 

If you are excited for a new opportunity and would like to join our team, you will need to be available for 80% of the fixture dates below:

  • Christmas Meeting – 13th and 14th December 2024
  • New Years Day Racing – 1st January 2025
  • Festival Trials Day – 25th January 2025
  • Cheltenham Festival – 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th March 2025
  • April Meeting – 16th and 17th April 2025
  • Race Night – 2nd May 2025

Successful candidates will need to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes. This could include passport, driving licence, utility bill dated in the last 3 months, HMRC letter, original bank statement, original payslip, birth certificate or a valid share code.
