We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Security Duty Manager to join our team at Southbank Centre (days and nights).
Our Client
Set across 11 acres, The Southbank Centre is London’s favourite meeting spot with restaurants, bars, street food markets and dramatic riverside views.
The Southbank Centre is made up of the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Hayward Gallery, National Poetry Library and Arts Council Collection and home to six resident orchestras.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a skilled Security Duty Manager with a commitment to safety and team leadership to join our security team. This position requires an experienced, dedicated professional to ensure the security and safety of our premises and personnel. Working a 12-hour rotating shift pattern, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily security operations, managing team members, and responding promptly to incidents. The SDM is responsible for managing a large team of Security Officers, covering 2 barriers, 4 buildings, Queens Walk, Skate Park and two remote sites.
Shift rotation of 6 on 3 off shift pattern days and nights. 0630 – 1830 and 1830 – 0630 averaging 54 hours per week.
Person Specification
- Door Supervisor License and CCTV License (required)
- Proven experience in a security role, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Appreciation of the need for safe working practices, with the ability to implement
- Company policy and procedure and ensure it is adhered to at all times.
- Flexibility to work both day and night shifts in a rotating schedule.
- SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence
- 5 years checkable work and address history
Key Responsibilities
- Approach customers, don’t wait to be approached
- Respond to incidents/ situations/ problems as soon as possible
- Primary point of staff contact.
- Build positive relationships with your staff.
- Ensure the service delivery is of a high standard at all times.
- Ensure all customer / staff queries and complaints are dealt with in a timely and effective manner and that the customer / staff member is kept fully informed of what action has/is being taken.
- Ensure Monthly welfare forms are completed with all staff members
- Responsible for ensuring staffing levels for each day and each activity are at full complement, and
- security personnel are fully trained to site specification.
- Review the running of shifts to identify ways in which productivity can be improved whilst maintaining security coverage.
- Responsible for ensuring all operational administration functions are completed in a timely fashion and compliant with the Southbank Centre.
- Lead and supervise the security team to ensure smooth operations across shifts.
- Prepare accurate and detailed reports on incidents and shift activities.
- Train and support new team members in security protocols and procedures.
- Maintain regular refresher training and ensuring that the training records are kept up to date.
- Liaise with internal departments and external agencies when required.
General responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with the greater business and stakeholders of the Southbank Centre.
- Responsible for your uniform and to ensure it is always clean and in good condition.

- Respond to all alarm activations from Winchester House through the CRS, as per the procedure held in the emergency briefcase.
- All other security, fire, emergency alarms must be managed effectively following SBC procedures.
- Strong time keeping within the team, duty start and finish times, opening and closing times of buildings, daily rotations and reaction time to incidents.

Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes.
