Our client:

Le Shuttle (Eurotunnel) is a railway shuttle service between France and the UK. Carlisle Support Services is recruiting exceptional client-driven Vehicle Safety Operatives to support our client with vehicle and passenger management. This is a unique opportunity to work in a vibrant and fast paced environment as a part of a professional and personable team.

What  we are looking for:

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for the safety and securing of vehicles travelling on freight shuttles using the Channel Tunnel train system. This process is known as chocking, as a chocker you will perform vehicle/train safety checks and Health & Safety duties once they have been boarded onto freight trains and assist customers with their onward journey to the passenger carriage of the train. Working as a team chocks need to be placed and removed under the wheels of heavy goods vehicles ensuring the vehicles safety prior to their journey through the tunnel. You will also be responsible for the safe management of each train and the vehicles, complete various safety checks for trains that arrive from France chocks need to be removed and replaced and complete safety checks of vehicles prior to their onward UK journey.

Agents are required to work early, late and night shifts across a 24-hour operation, over a 7-day working week across various 8- & 12-hour shift patterns, 365 days a year. Candidates must be flexible due to early and late finishes.

Must be confident and assertive, able to follow detailed instruction and capable of swift, reasoned decision making under pressure.

There may be an expectation to drive company vehicles whilst on site.

What you need:

Great attention to detail.

Good timekeeping & attendance.

A good understanding of Health & Safety.                    

An ability to work collaboratively, you must be a team player.

To communicate in open and honest manner, taking responsibility and accountability.

A focus on results and a drive to deliver extraordinary performance.

Excellent level of both verbal and written English.

Some service industry/customer care experience preferred.

A good level of fitness is required.

A flexible attitude to work to a shift rotation in line with a 24-hour operation.

A Full UK Driving Licence is desirable.

 

What you’ll need to provide:

 

5-year checkable employment/education history.

Proof of right to work in the UK documentation.

Complete UK DBS (criminal record check) and overseas criminal record check (if applicable).

Candidates are required to pass a safety critical medical.

Successful candidates will need to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes. 

This could include the following: passport / driving license / utility bill dated in the last 3 months / HMRC letter / original bank statement / original payslip / birth certificate / a valid share code.
